Steam Powered Ready-mix Lorry Built 1968 Finished model built 1:12 scale Where you might wonder did this strange contraption come from. The answer is that at this distance in time I have no idea. |

I remember having an interest in traction engines and having made small scratch built vintage cars from paper and card. I think it probably grew rather than come from some grand design.

I would often draw cars and lorries on any peace of paper I had to hand and I suspect this started out as a very small profile sketch. Discoveries with my small models must have made me want to tackle something more ambitious. |

I had discovered how to dope paper and card with glue to make it hard and able to accept paint. A similar method was used on light cloth, I had done this on small odd airplanes made from wire (see image) To stop polished brass tarnishing a coat of clear nail varnish was applied, this was also used on thick copper wire as pipes. |

This is the kind of model you keep in the attic not wanting to throw it away. However bring the case down recently for a clean it fell several feet to the floor breaking the case and smashing the model (see photo) Its now time to give it a decent burial. But it is a bit like loosing your pet hamster. |
