ISSUE SEVEN - Jan 2011

Coles News 7 and another planet another update.

OnLy one item on the agenda today but quite a large one.

F. TAYLOR and SONS -- THE HISTORY

Finally from various scraps of information I have managed to dredge up some semblance of the history of the Taylor range on cranes. Only a small company it founded in 1895 by three brothers they grew from general vehicle trading to the manufacture of small cranes, eventually to have factories at Pendleton and at Glazebury. They developed a different type of crane and were to become one of the first to introduce hydraulics. Taylor's were bought out by Coles 1959.

THE TAYLOR DATABASE

New section added to the cane database. In connection with the above history is section giving details and photos of almost all the cranes that Taylors made running from the first Loader in 1945 to the final crane to bear the Taylor name in 1966. As much information as available is given on each one.

REQUEST

Now for a request - I have found out that a restored Taylors Jumbo MK 3 (right) was given to the Manchester 'Museum of Science and Technology'. As I can't get to the Museum I am wondering if there is anyone out there who lives in Manchester who would be in a position to get some photos and details of it.
